The Capitol of is a technologically advanced, utopian city where the nation's most wealthy and powerful citizens live. Panem et circenses, or bread and circuses, was what Panem was ruled by. The conception of the arena and its dangers, the weapons, the different machines…all are very futuristic but not too unreal. Katniss is for a large part of the series a passive and unknowing participant in the rebellion. We all know that governments and the media often work together, the latter being corrupted by the former take House of Cards for instance, it explains it all very well. When Rue dies, Katniss decorates her body with flowers as a means of memorializing Rue, but also to defy the Capitol. Because of her qualities and skills she goes to everyday of struggling of being poor and having to hunt made her stronger and is the reason that kept her alive in the games.
